If your TV cards are given different addresses by Windows during your fresh reinstall, then your database may not recognise your TV cards.The way to get round this (low) risk, would be to run the update to 1.2.3 on your existing install and then copy the ProgramData directory, then wipe the hard drive (rather than copying the ProgramData directory from the current 1.2.2 install). To the best of my knowledge, there are no changes to the MP databases between 1.2.2 and 1.2.3 (there was when we went from 1.1.3 to 1.2.0, but that was a big change in the system). It looks like it contains the databases for My TV Series, My Movies, and My Online Videos. So, my question is, if I copy and paste the whole of that folder to my data drive, do I then copy and paste it all back to the C drive after I have done a clean install of windows and MediaPortal 1.2.3, and all of the same plug-ins I use? Will it be okay to just overwrite whatever is in there after the clean install, and will that back up everything? Within MediaPortal Configuration itself, there isn't an obvious back up area, but there is a link to User Config Files, which opens the 'C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal' folder within which are many files that look important! Within MediaPortal TV Server Configuration - there is an import / export option which looks pretty self explanatory so I should be okay with that. As 1.2.3 of MP should be released soon, I will probably wait for that as it includes the fix for Freeview HD EPG. I'd like to do a clean install of Windows 7 within the next few days to get rid of a few bugs.
